BRAC Summary: Close Fort McClellan, except minimum essential land and facilities for a Reserve Component enclave and minimum essential facilities, as necessary, to provide
auxiliary support to the chemical demilitarization operation at Anniston Army Depot. Relocate the U. S. Army Chemical and Military Police Schools to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, upon
receipt of the required permits. Relocate the Defense Polygraph Institute (DODPI) to Fort Jackson, South Carolina. License Pelham Range and current Guard facilities to the Alabama Army
National Guard.
Property Description: Fort McClellan is situated five miles north of Anniston, in Calhoun County, Alabama, and consists of the Main Post, adjacent leased state land in the
Choccolocco Corridor and Pelham Range approximately four miles to the west. The Main Post facilities and activities included the U.S. Army Chemical School, the U.S. Army Military Police
School, Alabama National Guard training area, Officer and Non-Commissioned Officer housing, enlisted barracks, and associated administrative, health, maintenance, and transportation
facilities. Following installation closure the Alabama National Training Site enclave and adjacent USAR facilities expanded to encompass approximately 300 acres on Main Post and Pelham
Range in its entirety. Formerly leased state property (Choccolocco Corridor) reverted back to state control in 1998 just prior to installation closure.
