BRAC Summary: The Commission recommends Kapalama Military Reservation Phase 111 for closure. The military value of the installation is lower han other installations in the same category primarily because Kapalama is separated from its primary customers, Schofield Barracks and Fort Shafter. The major mission and tenants of the installation can be relocated to Schofield Barracks.

Property Description: Kapalama Military Reservation (KMR) was located just inland of the Kapalama Basin in the Honolulu Harbor area of Oahu, HI, about four miles east of Honolulu International Airport. The site was heavily industrialized with vehicle receiving and fuel storage facilities. Originally comprised of approximately 100 acres, the remaining KMR Phase III parcel (consisting o 21 acres) was impacted by the BRAC Commission Recommendation.
