BRAC Summary: The Commission recommends Fort Wingate for closure. Its military value is lower than the other installations in the same category, primarily because Fort Wingate is a small, single-mission facility. Its mission can be relocated. Conveyed 2,496 acres at Fort Wingate, NM to Department of Interior (DOI) via special legislation for future use by the Navajo Nation and Zuni Pueblo.

Property Description: Fort Wingate Depot Activity (FWDA) is located approximately eight miles east of Gallup, NM on the south side of Interstate 40. The depot occupied approximately 21,133 acres of land in McKinley County, NM. The installation is divided into sub-areas based on general location and historical land use.
