Faraday Signal Blocking Bags

Demonstration Overview

Faraday backpack, laptop case, and dry bag

The DoW STED Program is conducting test and evaluation (T&E) of Faraday signal blocking bags for use in Department of War (DoW) operations to keep electronic devices safe from hacking and tracking. These bags utilize Faraday shielding technology which blocks all wireless signals, including cellular, GPS, RFID/NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, EMF radiation, electromagnetic pulse (EMP), and solar flares.

Demonstration Products*

The following systems were selected for test and evaluation:

  • Faraday backpacks, dry bags, cases, slings, and sleeves by SLNT

  • U.S. Navy SEAL Team ONE
  • Naval Health Research Center

Demonstration Details

Traditional bags for carrying portable electronic devices contain no technology to provide protection from EMP or solar flare damage or to prevent outgoing or incoming wireless signals for security. The demonstration products employ a signal blocking technology that exceeds MIL-STD-188-125-2 and IEEE 299-2006 testing standards, reducing the risk of compromised electronic equipment while increasing operational security and preventing risk of remote device tampering. Made from hi-tec upcycled textiles.
