BRAC Summary: The 2005 Base Closure and Realignment Commission recommended the closure of Newport Chemical Depot, Indiana (NECD) upon completion of the chemical demiliterization mission.

Property Description: Newport Chemical Depot is located approximately 25 miles north of Terre Haute, IN, 4 miles south of Newport, IN and 8 miles east of the Illinois state line. There was a total of 717,878 SF of facility space located on the depot all of which was either transferred or demolished. The buildings used during the VX neutralization process were demolished following completion of the mission due to possible contamination.
