BRAC Summary: The Commission recommends the Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) site in Herndon, Va for closure. Implementation of the Global Positioning System will eliminate the need for these facilities and property. There are no relocation costs associated with the closure as reassignment of personnel to the DMA Hydrographic-Topographic Center in Brookmont, MD is in the local commuting area.

Property Description: The Defense Mapping Agency, Herndon (DMA-H) site encompassed 12 acres of land in Herndon, VA, seven miles from the Washington Dulles International Airport. The facility consisted of four main buildings, several small outbuildings, and eight acres of open land.
