BRAC Summary:
– Realign the Headquarters, Depot Systems Command, including Systems Integaration Management Activity from Letterkenny Army Depot ro Rock Island Arsenal, IL, and merge it with the Armaments, Munitions and Chemical Command to form the Industrial Operations Command.

– Realign the Materiel Readiness Support Activity from Lexington-Blue Grass Army Depot, KY, and the Logisitics Control Activity from the Presidio of San Francisco, CA to Redstone Arsenal, AL. The later proposal is a revision to the recommendations of 1988 BRAC, which relocated the Materiel Readiness Support Activity to Letterkenny Army depot.

Property Description: Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD) is located in south-central Pennsylvania in Franklin County, five miles north of the Borough of Chambersburg. Its facilities include over 2,300,000 square feet of explosive storage space, 902 igloos, 26 rail docks, 28 miles of railroad, 126 miles of paved road, and a containerization facility. The Depot covers 19,243 acres, most of which is devoted to ammunition storage (16,614 acres). LEAD was mplaced on the Environmental Protection Agency s National Priority List (NPL) in 1987. There are two NPL nsites: Letterkenny Southeast Area and Letterkenny – Property Disposal Office Area
