BRAC Summary: The Shelton Army Family Housing Site was constructed in 1958 to support the adjacent NIKE mis-sile battery. In 1975, the missile site was closed, but the housing
was retained for use by active duty person-nel. Fort Devens provided installation oversight through closure and property disposal. The housing site was closed in 1990.
Property Description: The site was located on 12.25 acres of land in the cities of Shelton and Monroe, Fair-field County, CT. It consisted of 16 “Capehart”-style single-family three-
bedroom housing units. The site al-so included a headquarters building, dining hall, and a barracks building.
